Two causes, one mission: making a difference
This 14-mile hike through the New Forest is dedicated to raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and supporting Cameron during his recovery journey.
Macmillan Caring Locally (Christchurch)
Macmillan Caring Locally is a small local charity which supports the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital. The Macmillan Unit is a Hospice and a specialist palliative care ward. It was built in 1974 and was the first of its kind in the country.
Although the charity has the Macmillan name, it is in fact an independent charity with no connection to the national organisation Macmillan Cancer Support.
In partnership with the NHS the charity supports 16 in-patient beds at the Macmillan Unit Christchurch, 12 Community Clinical Nurse Specialists who look after up to 400 patients living at home in our local community, a Hospice at Home Team, and a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists who support patients at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Every year there are more than 2,200 referrals to the Macmillan Unit.
Macmillan Caring Locally also funds the multi-disciplinary teams at the Macmillan Unit which include the Family Support Team, Rehabilitation Team, Complementary Therapy, Welfare benefits advice and Chaplaincy. Macmillan Caring Locally is very proud that the Macmillan Unit is a 'Centre of Excellence'; a standard achieved due to the dedication of their team of professionals and volunteers.

Supporting Cameron
Hey, I'm Cam, and this walk means more to me now than it ever has.
In July last year, my life took an unexpected turn when I became paralysed. It flipped everything upside down for me and my family. But it also ignited something in me: a determination to fight, to grow, and to rebuild my life in a positive way.
This event has previously raised money for Macmillan Caring Locally, a charity that has made an incredible difference to many people in our community. This year, the walk will also help support my own recovery, helping to fund the rehabilitation and treatment that will give me the best chance of getting back to the adventurous, outdoors-obsessed life I've always loved.
When you take part or donate, you're not just supporting a great cause, you're standing with me on this mad journey. You're helping me push for every bit of progress, every milestone, and every win, while continuing to support the amazing work Macmillan Caring Locally does for people in our community.
I'd love to have you with us on the day. I'm still figuring out how I'm going to tackle the route in my chair, but if nothing else, it will be entertaining.
Your support doesn't just help. It fuels hope, strength, and possibility.
Thank you for being part of something that's changing lives, including mine.
